They’re very experienced in successfully delivering complex projects across a range of industries, including education, residential, commercial, healthcare, justice and emergency services.
One of their projects was the Sandwell Aquatics Centre in Smethwick – a brand new venue to host the swimming and diving events for the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games. For this particular project, they wanted the Central team to install resin flooring in the plant rooms, viewing areas and staircases.
We have a good working relationship with Wates and have worked together for more than 10-years.
Naturally, Aquatic Centres are warm. So, working in the plant rooms was warmer still, especially in full PPE – but the heat did help to enhance curing time!
This project had to be turned around very quickly – which was no problem for us. In fact, we finished a day ahead of schedule. Wates Construction were delighted.
We applied a resin waterproof tanking coating in the plant room to protect the concrete from moisture. The viewing areas needed a new resin coating to make them more aesthetically pleasing, and on the stairs we applied a slip resistance safety coating.
Watco floor safety coating and KDR resins.
The floor was cleaned and prepped with a diamond grind.
Two-weeks.
